Plasma polishing is a surface treatment technology based on plasma. It does fine polishing on metal surfaces. This is done by creating a gas layer discharge between the workpiece and the polishing solution. Compared to traditional polishing methods, plasma polishing has these big advantages:
1. It can remove material very efficiently. The speed of material removal in plasma polishing can reach 1μm/min. This is 10 – 30 times faster than liquid electro-polishing.
2. It uses a non-corrosive and non-toxic low-concentration inorganic salt solution as the polishing solution. So, it’s good for the environment.
3. It can efficiently polish complex curved surfaces and the inside surfaces of cavities. These are parts that are hard to polish with traditional methods.
